Castle Mountain and Bow River

Eons ago…the universe was born.

Sometimes by starlight when the quiet sets in you feel as if you’ve descended into a little bit of heaven.

Behold, Castle Mountain and Bow River.

“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.” – Carl Sagan

We booked a night photo tour with Dani from Banff Photo Workshops, she’s personable, fun, and helpful. We’d love to book more tours with her in the future. We paid for 1 since Vic is the photographer and you can bring a non photo buddy. Vic didn’t think he’d learn anything new but he did.

  1. The physics behind the idea of those heavier elements being born in collapsing stars is kind of mind-boggling, not to mention the question of how they got from there to here. It’s a strange and wonderful universe.

    1. When I read that quote it felt amazing. How are you? How’s summer been? Ours started out good – the Azores were amazing.

August has been weird. My Dad passed away and it feels strange. He was old enough to be my grandpa so in a lot of ways I am at peace. His dementia was getting worse and I was preparing for him to be bedridden. Another comfort is he walked and talked to the very end. He had a really good last two months – better energy and memory than usual.

Right now, all of us on the east coast can’t wait for the wknd because the heat wave should break by then. Have a good weekend!

      1. Sorry to hear about your father ~ the one thing I am uncomfortable with about growing older is the inevitable passing of life. I think, like you, I am getting myself prepared for dealing with such emotions, but regardless it will always be difficult. I appreciate your experience. I’m in Seattle, but leave soon for the Czech Republic – I’ve had a great trip back home and the weather, fortunately, was fantastic. Wishing you both well.
