Jiminy’s Progress
It’s Jiminy’s first Christmas and my second with the humans. I’ve been working extensively with Jiminy on his issue Human Social Anxiety Disorder (HSAD). He’s gotten very comfortable in his new home. He really enjoys steak and chicken. We spend a lot of time by the windows, our favorite is the one in the bedroom, a lot of birds hang out on the fire escape. It can be a little exhausting because he needs constant attention. He always wants to sleep near me, rubs on my face and body. I let him know when I need my time. I’m a busy cat, right now I’m reading The Price of Inequality by Joseph Stiglitz, I saw it sitting in the shelf and was curious, he’s Subject B’s favorite economist. While I thought I had my paws full with Jiminy, after reading, humans, you baffle me. Continue reading
The Lachine Canal & Canada Malting Silos
Walking along the river front, we happened upon The Canada Malting complex which was built in 1904 by David Jerome Spence. It’s now abandoned and in “deep disrepair.” It was fun exploring the area and part of us wanted to go through the hole in the fence and get a closer look but we decided to be good and observe from afar. Notre Dame Basilica
Notre Dame Basilica is located in Old Montreal. The basilica had a few incarnations. The version we see today was designed by New York based architect James O’Donnell, an Irish Protestant. The first stone was laid on September 1, 1824. When construction was finished, Notre Dame was the largest church in North America for over 50 years. Continue reading
Montreal
This summer we had the pleasure of going to Montreal which is the second most populated city in Canada after Toronto. It was originally named “Ville-Marie” after Mount Royal (the three peaked hill) in the center of the city. It’s located on the Island of Montreal which is an island between the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers. It is the second most populated river island in the world after Zhongshan Dao in China. It is also known as the Hochelaga Archipelago or the Montreal Islands. Continue reading

Dyker Frights is the creation of graphic designer Anthony George. He’s lived in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn for 17 years. It’s a really cool neighborhood thing and next door neighbors allow him to use their front yards. He’s been doing this for the last 12 years. At the end of the year a portion of all proceeds will be donated to Dancing for Animals. We donated our Jebus Santa picture to them for their 2015 Christmas Cards. They raise funds by hosting dancing events to give grants to animal welfare organizations and to support their educational programs.
I thank fellow blogger and friend Hangaku Gozen for giving me that extra push to get this up and running. I asked her opinion and she liked the idea and that helped me get over my hesitation.

Vancouver
“You guys from Bay Ridge?” This guy comes up to us. We were caught of guard and thinking who the heck did we bump into in Vancouver. We didn’t even recognize him. Turns out it’s this guy who has seen Victor on the train going to work and remembers seeing us walking around our neighborhood. They were on the last leg of their cruise vacation. We laugh about it till this day. What a small world. It was our last day and we spent it walking everywhere. Continue reading

I can’t continue my Canada posts at the moment. I keep telling myself to plow forward, just fight but I can’t shake my mood for the past few days. This is the first time ever I have felt I don’t belong in my country. Today is the 5th day after the election and the GOP/Trump have not condemned the spike in hate crimes. My Dad use to tell me stories of America the great, the melting pot, no other country was like ours. How we are the American melting pot because we are mixed, how everyone from everywhere came over for their dreams, how his family came over to build the railroads in the 1800s we, should be proud, there’s a place for everyone. Them not condemning the violence pretty much shows me they only value the whites and fuels the violence even more. Where is the America I was proud to be a part of? He will never be my president. I will never stand behind a government that does not speak out against the rise in hate that their campaign created, making it okay to harass people of color, LGBTQ, etc. As far as I’m concerned the government elect turned their backs on us. It’s the strangest feeling to go your whole life feeling more American than anything else to see you don’t matter because of the color of your skin.
Since things are going to be this way for a while, we need to fight back. Go out and protest, donate to the ACLU, NAACP, Planned Parenthood, NRDC. We worked too hard to have our rights taken away. We will fight, we will persevere. Remember, keep the protests peaceful, we have to be the better person. We can’t allow them to Make America Trash Again.
