Cabrillo National Monument sits at the tip of Point Loma Peninsula in San Diego, California. The views of San Diego Harbor, skyline, Naval Air Station North Island, and Coronado are amazing. Besides visiting my cousins and Aunt, this was a huge perk of going to California, Dark Harbor. It did not disappoint. If you are a fan of haunted mazes and all the Halloween stuff like we are, The Queen Mary delivered! We weren’t sure what to expect and Vic stopped me from watching videos on youtube so they’d be a surprise. Was I scared? No. Was Vic scared? No. We are probably the 2 worse people to ask if it’s scary because we enjoy things like this and are big horror fans. Halloween night at the Queen Mary is fun. Continue reading
California Aquariums are pretty cool. We haven’t been to that many but we love the Monterey Bay Aquarium and California Academy of Sciences out of the few we’ve seen. When my cousin said that the Aquarium of the Pacific reminds her of the one in Monterey, it went immediately to our must-see list. Vic’s a fish by nature and if we had aquariums like this close to home, he’d volunteer in the shark tank to feed the fish and give demonstrations. Continue reading
My Dad died this summer and I haven’t really felt up for much so I thought I’d take a break from my Banff, Canada posts and start here. I’ve been feeling better since my trip to California to visit my Aunt and cousins. In fact, my cousin, her kid, and my Aunt spent time with my Dad in NY about a month before he passed. They felt bad for not going to the funeral but we felt it was better to end on the note of their trip. The wake and funeral were very small. Only 2 other relatives live in NYC except my immediate family. Continue reading
City Tavern in Philadelphia is located at 138 South 2nd Street. It’s a recreation of the 18th century building that used to sit there. The original tavern was a favorite spot of our founding fathers. Continue reading

Smith Tower stands at 38 story (484ft/147.52m) in Pioneer Square and was completed in 1914. It was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. In 1931, Kansas city Power and Light became the tallest building and in 1962 the Space Needle took the title. Continue reading
Beneath the streets of Pioneer Square lies the remnants of ‘Old Seattle’, where you can get a glimpse of the city’s early days. The Underground is a network of basements, tunnels, and passageways underneath Pioneer Square in downtown. On June 6, 1889, a cabinet maker accidentally lit up and overturned a glue pot. What ensued was the Great Fire of Seattle. Continue reading
We didn’t want our Canadian half of the trip to end because Seattle meant we would be flying home in 2 days. But Seattle also meant meeting a new friend, blogger Travel Gourmand. We tried to link up with a handful of other bloggers but it just didn’t work out (there’s always next time:) ). Our 2 days in Seattle were a pleasant surprise and a lot easier to fly back to NYC. Flying home from Victoria would require making a transfer but we found a new way – Seattle. We will take the ferry to Seattle, stay a couple nights, and fly non-stop home from now on. By Washington Square in the Curtis building is a 15 by 49 foot favrile glass mosaic. The light and colors were brought to you by the studios of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The mosaic is based on a painting by Maxfield Parish.
