Meow Service – Day 1

St. Patty’s Day 2016 was my first day of volunteer service for Anjellicle Cats. They rescue neglected, abandoned, stray cats and kittens. They also work with the ACC (Animal Care and Control of NYC ) to pull cats on the kill list. They are a no-kill, all volunteer, not for profit organization. They have 3 kitty showing areas: Hell’s Kitchen at Spoiled Brats, the Upper West Side at Columbus Avenue and 100th Street, and the Upper East Side at Lexington and 86th Street. Their cats are also featured at the Koneko Cat Cafe on the Lower East Side. I get to help take care of and socialize the kitties until they get adopted out. Today there were 9! Continue reading

The Amazing Acro-cats

Yeah, you read that right – a cat acrobat show.

The Amazing Acro-cats is a small circus troupe of cats and other domestic animals by animal trainer Samantha Martin. Her animals are clicker trained and they go back to their cages when a whistle is blown. Most are her pets but some cats are fosters and available for adoption. All the animals are rescues and strays. She wants to inspire people to clicker train their cats. She even explains how this can be handy in emergency situations like when you need to find them quickly if there’s a fire. Continue reading

Jebus Mews: Princess Leia of Alderaan

About 18 years ago Princess Leia of Alderaan woke up and found herself in our Universe. She remembers her ship passing by an undocumented nebula and a worm hole opened. Her ship got sucked through and hit rough turbulence. She can’t quite remember anything before landing in New Jersey in a country called the United States.

It was very weird at first but being the adventure Princess that she is, she got over it. She can’t quite figure how her feet turned to paws. It was like she was in an alternate reality. On this thing called TV, she saw herself in human form in a documentary about her world by LucasFilms. “Okay,” She thought. “WTF?” Continue reading
